The Registered Nurse (Specialty Care) is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care within Ambulatory Care and Specialty Care Clinics. NOTE: The 2-page Resume requirement does not apply to this position.

• The Registered Nurse (Specialty Care) is responsible for providing competent, evidence-based specialty care to assigned patients and oversight of licensed vocational nurses/nursing assistants, as appropriate to the Specialty Care/Ambulatory Care clinic setting. Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines. Other duties/responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Provides patient care, care coordination, health promotion, health education and coaching on wellness, disease prevention, and chronic care management. Assists in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement and outcomes utilization. Provides care and/or services appropriate to the age of patients being served and which is appropriate to the cognitive; emotional, and chronological maturation of the patient. Assesses data reflective of patient's status and interpret information needed to identify each patient requirements relative to age specific needs to provide care as described in the services, policies and procedures. Demonstrates leadership in delivering and improving holistic, specialty care through collaborative strategies with others. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. Core elements of performance include knowledge and active participation in the unit/program level quality improvement process and initiatives as well as customer service programs. Demonstrates responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Applies patient, family, and caregiver knowledge, values, and beliefs into care delivery without judgement or discrimination. Serves as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers, improving outcomes for the immediate practice setting. Leads the provision of nursing care to patients with complex care needs utilizing the nursing process in alignment with the ANA Standards of Nursing Practice.
