The Durham VA Health Care System is looking to fill a Registered Nurse vacancy for the Womens Health Clinic.
- VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards The Durham Women's Health Clinic maintains the health and manages the care for patients with a variety of medical problems including hypertension, diabetes, arthritis, cancer, congestive heart failure and other chronic diseases. The clinic is designed to provide comprehensive primary/specialty Women's Health Care services including gender specific care to male and female Veterans. The clinic is staffed by providers (attending physicians, advanced practice providers), registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, pharmacists, social workers and medical support assistants.The Registered Nurse will serve as a primary care nurse in support of the physician or advanced practice provider. Duties will include, but not be limited to, oversight of nursing staff, patient intake, documentation, point of care testing and health screening. The RN will assess, triage, take histories and document conditions and concerns for Veterans presenting to the clinic and via the telephone. In addition to assessment and triage, the RN will assist with chaperoning of exams and assisting with procedures. The RN is responsible for promoting an environment that supports caring and courteous service, safe patient care, and positive working relationships. The clinical nurse will coordinate care through the health continuum using health education, health coaching, and health promotion.Duties include but are not limited to: Minimum of three years of successful clinical practice. Prior recent experience in ambulatory care/primary care nursing, including care of Women Veterans. Previous experience in the care manager role and coordinating care/care delivery. Previous experience with telephone advice nursing. Demonstrated proficiency in using the nursing process in providing care for clients with complex care needs. Previous knowledge/experience with the patient centered medical home practice model. Demonstrated ability in the areas of interpersonal relationships, problem solving/critical thinking skills and conflict resolution. Preferred Level of Education BSN Preferred Certification(s) Ambulatory Care Case Management Medical- Surgical Telephone Nursing Practice Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8 hour tours between 0700 and 1800.
