The Registered Nurse Manager (Acute Care) is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing or supervising direct patient care with the Nursing Acute Care Unit at the Salisbury Veterans Health Care System facility. NOTE: The 2-page Resume requirement does not apply to this position.

  • The Registered Nurse Manager (Acute Care) is the designated first-line supervisory authority and is responsible/accountable for the operation of their assigned units. Responsible and accountable for the direction and supervision of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance. Other related duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Leads professional practice using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to improve evidence-based and/or data-driven outcomes for an identified patient population and/or specialized areas within immediate practice setting. Functions as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing leadership to the team. Leads the provision of nursing care to patients with complex care needs utilizing the nursing process in alignment with the ANA Standards of Nursing Practice. Ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards. Aligns nursing/clinical objectives with organizational strategic outcomes, participating in strategy planning and execution. Assesses the immediate practice setting to identify efficient, cost-effective care delivery. Applies clinical knowledge/judgment to lead staff involvement in planning, decision-making, and evaluating outcomes within the immediate practice setting. Functions as a leader, with demonstrated outcomes, for the immediate practice setting. Leads patient care improvement through monitoring, analyzing, and evaluating care outcomes in the immediate practice setting Maintains knowledge and ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards, Directives, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOP). Provides coverage for other Nurse Managers as needed. Perform other related duties as listed in functional statement.
