Registered Nurse (RN) - Endoscopy/GI Lab - Intermittent

This Intermittent position is located at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center, Milwaukee, WI, in the Medical Procedures Unit of the Acute Outpatient Division. The Endoscopy RN is responsible for providing competent, evidence-based procedural care to GI and Pulmonary patients and oversight of Medical Instrument Technicians, as appropriate to the procedural setting.

• The Endoscopy Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing competent, evidence-based procedural care to assigned patients and oversight of licensed vocational nurses and health/nursing assistants, as appropriate to the procedural setting. Assigned duties are, but not limited to: Providing patient care, care coordination, health promotion, health education and coaching on wellness, disease prevention, and chronic care management. Assisting in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies, and providing quality improvement and outcomes utilization. Delivering and managing the care of patients undergoing therapeutic and diagnostic endoscopy procedures including both inpatients and outpatients, including administration of RN sedation. Assessing the patients physical and mental status prior to procedures, educates on procedural and post-procedural care, and documents responses to interventions, findings, and reports any changes. Partnering with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary team to promote effective and safe transitions across the health care continuum, including the Veteran's goals of care. Providing peers with informal constructive feedback for improvement. Questioning clinical practices for the purpose of providing evidence-based care. Participating in activities and strategies to sustain an evidence-based-practice culture. Other duties, as assigned.
