Position Summary: The Quality Improvement Professional (RN) is responsible for providing statistical, analytical and process improvement methodology support for hospital departments, committees, services, teams, and medical staff clinical improvement initiatives with emphasis on clinical areas where experience and education as an RN is effectively applicable.       Qualifications   Education:
  • Associate degree (ADN) in nursing required.
  • Bachelor’s degree (BSN) in nursing preferred.
Experience
  • A minimum of two (2) years direct clinical nursing work experience in the acute care setting required.
  • Prior experience in working under the following programs and standards preferred:
    • Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Conditions of Participation (CoPs);
    • Det Norske Veritas National Integrated Accreditation for Healthcare Organizations (DNV NIAHO) standards;
    • ISO 9001, etc.
  • Prior experience working on LEAN, Six Sigma, CQM teams and performance improvement initiatives preferred.
  • Healthcare system\hospital quality-based experience preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of South Carolina in good standing required.
  • Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belts by the International Association for Six Sigma Certification (IASSC) preferred.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Primarily responsible for assisting with the determination of plans and facilitating improvement efforts with evidence-based care delivery and national clinical quality improvement projects including, but not limited to: Premier’s QUEST; CMS Value-Based Purchasing; Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting Program (IQR); Hospital Outpatient Quality Reporting Program (OQR); Partnership for Patients; etc. 
  • Participate in screening of Medical Staff Quality Committee cases.
  • Lead clinical Root Cause Analyses.
  • Conduct retrospective record review for determination of quality-of-care concerns, etc.
  • Receive assignments in the form of broad boundaries and customer end results and expectations needed and to be met and incumbent utilizes critical thinking and analytical skills to produce/meet outcome.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.  
  • Display exemplary core customer service.
  • Work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues, physicians, department heads, and members of leadership.
  • Effectively utilize strong organizational skills.
  • Consistently display effective verbal and written communication skills.  
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Explorer, and PowerPoint.
  • Regularly exercise independent judgement.
