Ellis Medicine is seeking a Cardiac Internist to join the cardiovascular team at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, New York.

This unique opportunity is designed for an Internal Medicine physician who enjoys hospital-based medicine and wants to focus on the inpatient consultation and medical management of cardiovascular patients while maintaining an exceptional work-life balance.

The Cardiac Internist will become an integral member of a cardiovascular team of more than 20 physicians and advanced practitioners, working collaboratively with cardiologists and other specialists to provide comprehensive care to hospitalized patients.

This is a dedicated weekend position, offering a consistent Friday-Sunday schedule and 12-hour shifts while allowing physicians to maintain flexibility during the remainder of the week.

• Evaluate and manage hospitalized patients with cardiovascular conditions and complex medical comorbidities
• Work closely with cardiologists across general, interventional, electrophysiology, structural heart, and other cardiovascular subspecialties
• Strong access to advanced cardiovascular services and subspecialty expertise
• Predictable weekend schedule with the majority of the week available for personal, family, academic, or other professional pursuits

Clinical Responsibilities

The Cardiac Internist will provide dedicated inpatient medical support to the cardiovascular service, including:

• Provide inpatient Internal Medicine consultation for patients receiving cardiovascular care
• Evaluate new cardiology consultations from hospital medicine, emergency medicine, surgery, and other inpatient services
• Perform comprehensive medical assessments and develop individualized treatment plans
• Manage cardiovascular patients with significant medical comorbidities in collaboration with the patient's cardiologist
• Assist with the medical management of conditions including heart failure, coronary artery disease, hypertension, atrial fibrillation and other arrhythmias, valvular disease, and other cardiovascular conditions
• Provide pre-procedural and peri-procedural cardiovascular evaluation and risk assessment
• Review laboratory data, ECGs, imaging, telemetry, and other available clinical information to support patient management
• Collaborate with cardiologists and advanced practitioners to coordinate comprehensive patient care
• Facilitate communication among cardiology, hospital medicine, surgery, emergency medicine, and other consulting services
• Communicate treatment recommendations and care plans with patients and families
• Participate in discharge planning and transitions of care

The Cardiac Internist will not be expected to perform invasive cardiology procedures and will work closely with cardiologists whenever specialty-level cardiovascular intervention or procedural management is indicated.

Qualifications

• Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine
• Licensed (or eligible) to practice in New York State
• Strong clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care
• Hospital-based or inpatient medicine experience preferred
• Comfortable caring for medically complex hospitalized patients
• Interest in cardiovascular medicine and multidisciplinary care
• Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative cardiovascular team

Recruitment Package

Ellis Medicine offers a competitive recruitment package designed to support your professional and personal transition to our organization, including:

• Guaranteed compensation of $327,600
• The posted salary reflects the starting range of total compensation and does not include productivity bonuses incentives related to quality and performance, extra shift incentives, and other forms of cash compensation as applicable to the position. Please note that this salary range is provided in accordance with State law and is subject to variation due to the factors noted above.
• $15,000 starting bonus
