About the Position: The position is within Dept of Maternal-Child; Rotating Shift Hours may include 6-12 hour Shifts: 0645-1915/1845-0715; one 8 hour shift: 0645-1515/1045-1915/1845-0315/2245-0715; nights/weekends/holiday - rotations may change every 3-6 month (Hours may vary at commands discretion) This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
- Provide nursing care for women and infants during the antepartum/postpartum period.
- Identifies high risk and socially fragile patients/families and provide expert nursing care, advanced education and psychosocial support.
- Provides verbal and written instructions to the newborn's family on matters pertaining to procedures, treatments, and follow-up appointments including potential risks, side effects, and health benefits.
- Identifies overall nursing needs as it relates to health needs of newborns.
- Plans, and develops educational programs for families and staff.
