The Licensed Practical Nurse Telehealth Clinical Technician position is located at the Tennessee Valley Healthcare System (TVHS), McMinnville, TN clinic in Health Informatics.

• The Telehealth Clinical Technician (TCT) is a Licensed Practical Nurse mentor and preceptor who provides clinical, educational and technical oversight and assistance for all Clinical Telehealth Technicians (LPNs and Health Technicians) within Tennessee Valley Healthcare System. This position will serve as a lead role to support and manage telehealth operations and is typically stationed at a clinical care delivery site (VA Medical Center, CBOC, VA Outreach Clinic, etc.), with duties that may require travel. Job Duties include, but are not limited to: Prepares and administers prescribed medications (oral, topical, subcutaneous, Intramuscular, and/or intravenous) and performs treatments according to established policies/procedures. Observes for physical and/or emotional changes in patient's health condition, which may include prescribed medications/treatments, to promptly and accurately documenting identified changes, and reporting any deviations from normal toRN/HCP. Accurately and consistently reports and records significant veteran information received from other team members and can analyze and implement modifications based on these reports. Providing guidance and technical direction relating to the telehealth program and relevant administrative matters. Collaborating with the Connected Care Manager/Assistant Manager to develop assignments for team members in order to facilitate all operations of the facility's telehealth program. Ensuring that new employees (local and at the CBOC sites) receive on-the-job training to and are adequately instructed in specific tasks and job techniques, ensuring that written instructions and reference materials are made available for use by team members in the accomplishment of tasks or projects. Performs telehealth imaging, including tele-retinal screening, tele-dermatology, tele-wound care imaging and other telehealth programming as identified and referred by the primary care provider, other providers, and the imager. Provides patient education related to telehealth care processes, disease processes, disease management and preventative health care. Appropriately seeks assistance and guidance from Registered Nurse or medical provider regarding changes in the patient's condition requiring higher-level intervention. Promptly recognizes urgent or emergent patient care situations, seeks assistance, and effectively intervenes as directed when appropriate. Serves as a telepresenter within scope of practice during clinical video telehealth (CVT) and VA Video Connect (VVC) encounters including tasks such as establishing and maintaining video conferencing connections, making introductions between patient site and provider site, following instructions of a clinician to facilitate an effective clinical encounter. Schedules, confirms, and coordinates, and provides technical support for telehealth services. Prepares the telehealth patient room including equipment for examination, training, education, access, and establishing the online, video conferencing or other connections. Provides "hands on" assistance to the provider and patient as part of the encounter, training or interaction as needed. Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).
