This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.   • Duties may include but not limited to: Responsible and accountable for the direction and guidance of the area specific orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance. Oversees the processes for Emergency Services and provides administrative support to the Nurse Manager. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. Demonstrates a high level of clinical expertise, leadership, and innovative approaches to manage complex care. Applies skills necessary to coordinate and/or identify discipline-specific education needs, leadership training, professional staff development and mentoring. Responsible for contributing to the establishment and implementation of evidenced-based nursing standards of practice. Delivers fundamental, knowledge-based care to assigned patients while developing technical competencies. Brings principles and theory with the application of critical thinking skills. Leads and organizes delivery of care to assure continuity of care and peer accountability for practice, including access to care and discharge planning. Uses advanced clinical knowledge/judgment to promote staff involvement in planning, decision-making, and evaluating outcomes. Functions as an expert in clinical practice and/or areas related to the assigned roles and responsibilities. Systematically evaluates current practice, and formulating outcomes for groups of patients and/or organizational processes within the Emergency Services. Guides, develops, and supports staff, and uses professional standards of care, scientific evidence, and practice to evaluate programs and/or service activities. In the absence of the Emergency Services Nurse Manager the Emergency Services Assistant Nurse Manager is the designated first-line supervisory authority and is responsible and accountable for the 24/7 operation of their assigned unit and provides coverage for other managers as needed. Provides leadership in providing staffing coverage for the Emergency Services. Creates a positive work environment which enhances care delivery and professional development of clinically competent staff. Promotes a culturally diverse workforce in which the values and needs of all individuals are respected. Registered professional nurse who is accountable to the Nurse Manager. In collaboration with the Nurse Manager, functions as a supervisor and assumes accountability for the operation of Emergency Services. This includes the management, supervision, and evaluation of care delivered by nursing and other allied health care staff.
