The Nurse Shared Governance and Pathway to Excellence Coordinator is an experienced Registered Nurse who supports nursing excellence activities aligned with ANCC Pathway to Excellence and Magnet principles at the unit and service levels. The incumbent coordinates shared governance councils and related nursing excellence initiatives, assists with Pathway to Excellence planning and evidence collection, and promotes staff engagement in professional practice and improvement work.
- The Registered Nurse - Shared Governance and Pathway to Excellence Coordinator demonstrates leadership, experience, and creative approaches that support improvement in quality-of-care outcomes at the unit and service level. Fosters positive professional practice environments by helping build and support structures for nursing excellence and innovation through collaboration and stakeholder engagement across assigned services and teams. Participates in the design and implementation of activities that improve patient outcomes and nursing staff engagement related to professional (shared) governance, evidence-based practice (EBP), high reliability organization (HRO) principles, and other performance improvement (PI) efforts within the practice setting. Major duties include but are not limited to: Participates in strategic planning discussions relevant to nursing governance and Pathway to Excellence and helps align goals at the unit and service levels with facility priorities. Applies knowledge of data, information, processes, organizational interactions, and analytical skills to document outcomes and track shared governance and nursing excellence measures. Assumes a supportive leadership role in promoting professional development and provides coaching and mentoring to nursing staff engaged in council work, evidence-based practice, and improvement projects. Leads and coordinates the infrastructure and day-to-day operations of shared governance councils, professional governance activities, and related nursing excellence initiatives within assigned areas. Provides consultation to leaders, councils, committees, and frontline staff and assists with planning, organizing, and executing shared governance events, annual training, staff development activities, council support functions, nursing excellence education. Assists with collection, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of program metrics (including leading and lagging indicators, staff engagement measures, governance participation data, productivity measures, and outcome data). Coaches and mentors nurses and interdisciplinary partners in shared governance principles, council participation, evidence-based practice integration, project development, and dissemination of outcomes. Participates in strategic planning and goal alignment for shared governance and Pathway to Excellence within assigned scope.
