The physician will be responsible for overseeing the EMG technicians daily, evaluating patients, performing EMG, interpreting nerve conduction studies, writing reports and communicating with referring physicians. The physician will be responsible for urgent same-day studies on inpatients. The physician will have a clinical appointment at the academic affiliate, UAB, in the Department of Neurology. The position involves supervision and teaching responsibilities of neurology residents and neurophysiology fellows rotating through the VA. Administrative duties associated with this position will include monthly meetings with the UAB Division of Neuromuscular disease to organize and manage resident and fellow education/supervision at the VA. Finally, the physician will participate in formal didactic teaching of VA residents in neuromuscular disease and EMG. Opportunities for clinical research will be available depending on the interests and experience of the candidate. Work Schedule: Part time Tuesday 8:00am-9:00am, 12:00pm-5:00pm and Wednesay 1:00pm-5:00pm. Subject to change based on the needs of the agency.
