The Assistant Nurse Manager (Community Living Center) serves as a clinical and leadership expert, supporting 24/7 unit operations, supervising staff, and driving evidence-based, patient-centered care. The role leads process improvement, ensures regulatory compliance, advances staff development, and fosters a collaborative, accountable, and inclusive care environment.
- Duties include, but not limited to: Clinical practice & care coordination: Nursing process accountability; assess/plan/implement/evaluate; education, self-management, satisfaction; patient preferences; age-appropriate care. Unit operations & supervision: 24/7 operations support; full supervisory authority when NM is absent; staffing flexibility/floating. Staff development & performance: Orientation, training, development, performance evaluation; role model/educator/practitioner/supervisor; mentoring. Leadership & culture: Effective communication, professionalism, emotional intelligence; accountability; inclusive, diverse workplace; alliances across care continuum. Interdisciplinary collaboration & implementation: Lead teams; remove barriers; implement evidence-based programs; contribute to care models and environment design. Patient experience, advocacy & ethics: Improve experience/satisfaction/safety; advocate rights; address ethical issues; model high reliability and VA I CARE values. Evidence-based practice & quality improvement: Integrate EBP/research; drive performance improvement; share outcomes; advanced clinical judgment; continuity, peer accountability, ANA Standards. Strategy, compliance & accreditation: Meet accreditation/regulatory standards; comply with directives/policies/SOPs; align nursing goals with strategic outcomes; participate in planning. Resource & cost management: Manage resources for efficient, cost-effective care. Customer service, privacy/security & role requirements: Respectful communication; protect sensitive data; perform physical duties; maintain schedule flexibility.
