  • James A. Haley Veterans Hospital has a current vacancy for Nurse Manager Quality Management position available with the Quality & Patient Safety department. The RN manager will demonstrate the fundamental knowledge of the unit and is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing or supervising direct patient care. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. RN will demonstrate sound decision -making and judgment and possess excellent interpersonal skills. RN are self-directed and influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team and leading innovative process improvement initiatives. Executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex client care. Duties listed but not limited to: Lead the nursing process: Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care delivery based on age - specific components when providing or supervising direct patient care. Staff leadership: Direct and supervise orientation, training, professional development, and performance evaluation of staff. Role model and educator: Function as a clinical expert, educator, practitioner, and supervisor, providing leadership to the team. Collaboration: Work with interdisciplinary teams to remove barriers, implement evidence-based programs/processes, and improve care outcomes The Nurse Manager (NM) is the designated first-line supervisory authority and is responsible and accountable for the operation of their assigned units and provides coverage for other NMs as needed. The NM is responsible and accountable for the direction and supervision of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance. They function as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing leadership to the team. The NM engages in professional organizations to enhance leadership and career growth. They adhere to ethical principles in decision -making, fostering accountability at personal, organizational, and staff levels. Demonstrates expertise in professional practice using the nursing process ( assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) with improved evidence-based and/or data-driven outcomes beyond the immediate practice setting. Leads and organizes delivery of care to ensure continuity of care and peer accountability for practice in alignment with the ANA Standards of Nursing Practices. Leads initiatives to improve the Veteran experience, care coordination, timeliness to resolve issues, negative trends, or environment of care concerns, beyond the immediate practice setting. Leads staff to identify, analyze and address ethical issues that impact patients, caregivers, and staff beyond he immediate practice setting. Collaborates in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of policies, procedures, and/or guidelines. Provides peers with formal or informal constructive feedback for improvement. Fosters a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of health care professionals. Meets the needs of the Veteran and as appropriate the Veteran's family, caregiver and/or significant other, the Veteran's representative, visitors to VA facilities, all VA staff and other customers while supporting VA missions. Demonstrates leadership in patient advocacy by protecting the health, safety, and rights, of patient population groups beyond the immediate practice setting. Consistently communicates and treats the Veteran and as appropriate the Veteran's family, caregiver and/or significant other, the Veteran representatives, visitors to VA facilities, all VA staff, and other customers in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner.
