The Dayton Veterans Affairs Medical Center's Middletown Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) is recruiting for a well-qualified Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work within the Lab.
- VA Careers - Licensed Practical Nurse: https://youtube.com/embed/Ae85IP1Oiz4 Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Duties include, but are not limited to: Following and observing all policies and procedures Performing phlebotomy duties using correct collection equipment and correct order of draw for each test ordered Checking AED, glucometer, emergency eye wash Monitoring laboratory specimen refrigerator temperature Providing continuity of care in instructing patients about laboratory needs, and/or procedures to be performed prior to next visit and explains to patients and their families/significant others laboratory instructions Performing QC checks on indicated equipment Completing and maintaining mandatory trainings and competency assessments Performing assigned technical procedures, such as weights, blood pressures, pulse, temperatures, etc. Preparing and administering medications Notifying supervisory staff nurse and/or supervisor of any problems or changes in patient condition Following Emergency Management Plan in an emergency situation such as fainting or unexpected unresponsiveness Notifying Lead RN/Nurse Manager when there are large spills, linens needed, etc., and informing EMS supervisor Maintaining current BLS and initiates and performs when indicated Consistently models professional conduct in routine and stressful situations Reacting to stress with self-control and appropriate behavior Treating all patients/residents, families, and co-workers with respect Providing care that meets/exceeds veteran expectations. Referring customer service concerns to team leader, charge nurse, supervisor, or nurse manager Communicating with consideration, empathy and respect for residents/families, coworkers, and visitors Demonstrating understanding of cultural transformation and provides resident care according to cultural transformation principles Performing position responsibilities in an ethical manner Dressing professionally and adhering to Medical Center Dress Code Policy Work Schedule: 0730-1600 Monday through Friday Recruitment/Relocation Incentives (Sign-on Bonus): Not authorized Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not authorized Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade). Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child. Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
