The Southeast Health District, WIC program is seeking a highly qualified candidate to fill the full-time, salaried position of  PH Registered Nurse based in Statesboro, Metter, Claxton, Glennville or Reidsville, GA

Under general supervision, provide nutrition assessments, education, and counseling to WIC participants. Develop and document nutrition care plans for participants as required by state and district nutrition guidelines. Will travel to assigned clinics to provide nutrition assessments, education, and counseling to WIC participants.  Serves as a resource on WIC procedures and nutrition to district staff and community partners. Train clinic staff on WIC procedures as needed. Adhere to protocols set in place for vaccine administration and specimen collection, including but not limited to appropriate patient identification, registration, preparation and administration of vaccine, labeling, requisitioning, and preparation of specimens for transport to the lab by courier. This position may provide professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols as needed. Ensure that all safety precautions, HIPAA requirements and data entry are accurate and acknowledged. Administer vaccinations during designated events such as mass vaccination clinics or in the event of a declared emergency. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and completion of a PHN course within one (1) year of hire and current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license and CPR certification.


Preferred Qualifications

Completion of a bachelor’s degree in nursing. One year of experience as a registered professional nurse. Public health experience. WIC experience or experience providing nutrition education. Bilingual.

Current State employees are subject to State Personnel Board rules regarding salary.

Southeast Health District accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered. SEHD will contact educational institutions to verify degree, diploma, licensure, etc.

The candidate selected for this position may be subject to pre-employment drug screening and a criminal background check.

As an employee of SEHD, in the event of an identified emergency you may be required, as a term and condition of employment, to assist in meeting the emergency responsibilities of the department.
