This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. - The Mental Health Acute Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) functions directly to support the activities of the St. Cloud VA Health Care System. The RN is responsible for the planning, integrating, implementing, modifying and evaluating the effectiveness of the Veteran's care. The RN will serve as a liaison to both internal and external providers and will be responsible for managing the care of the Veteran and the seamless transition to and from the community. Major duties include but are not limited to: Participates in nursing service committees. Participates in High Reliability Organization (HRO) processes and HRO initiatives. Demonstrates skill in the provision of nursing care based on utilization of the health history and physical assessment skills. Demonstrates knowledge of Crisis Behavioral Response and Procedure/Response. Demonstrates skill and knowledge of the Suicide Risk Assessment tool and Safety Plan. Conducts a comprehensive assessment of the patient's health and psychosocial needs, including health literacy status and deficits, and develops a plan collaboratively with the patient and family or caregiver. Plans with patient, family or caregiver, the specialist, the PACT team, other healthcare providers, and the community to maximize health care responses, quality, and cost-effective outcomes. Facilitates communication and coordination between members of the health care team, involving the patient in the decision-making process in order to minimize fragmentation in services. Strives to promote Veteran self-advocacy and self-determination. Encourages the appropriate use of health care services and strives to improve quality of care and maintain cost effectiveness on a case-by-case basis.
