The Dayton, Ohio VA Medical Center is looking for a Outpatient Specialty Care Registered Nurse (RN).

  • Duties include but not limited to: The Outpatient Specialty Care Registered Nurse (RN) is responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Practices as a Registered Nurse within the Subspecialty Outpatient Clinics. These clinics include but are not limited to Orthopedics, General/Thoracic/Vascular Surgery, Hematology/Oncology, Diabetes, Endocrinology, Ear Nose & Throat, Pulmonary, Infectious Disease, Urology, Rheumatology, Neurology, Dermatology & Podiatry. Accountable for clinical responsibilities, which may include the proper intake and exit of the veteran at clinic visit, meeting of educational and psychosocial assessment and needs, procedural assisting and appropriate triaging of telephone calls, walk-ins and unstable veterans. Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. Provides patient care, care coordination, health promotion, health education and coaching on wellness, disease prevention, and chronic care management. Assists in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement and outcomes utilization.
