Gaston County Government careers

Gaston County government does its public safety in-house: a county police department created by legislative act in July 1957, which began operations with a chief, a secretary, and 23 sworn officers; Gaston Emergency Medical Services; and a 911 communications office answering emergency calls around the clock. Health & Human Services covers the community services side, a county manager administers the departments, and elected commissioners set policy for a North Carolina county government built around direct service delivery.
