Gallatin County's government operates from Bozeman, Montana, the county seat, an area the county's About page puts at over 50,000 people. The county calls itself the most populated and fastest growing county in southwest Montana, and its offices cover the usual spread: elections, motor vehicle and treasurer services, planning, a sheriff's office, a Health Department, and a licensed nursing home on Durston Road. That About page is all mountain valleys, blue-ribbon trout streams, and Yellowstone, and never gets around to what the government does, which tells you plenty about the place.
