Contract Buy Out Program: This position may be eligible for the Physician / Provider Contract Buy Out Program, which authorizes VHA to buy out service contracts (Locum agreements, loan repayments, sign-on bonus contracts, Physician-owned practices) in exchange for employment at certain rural or highly rural facilities for a period of obligated service (min 4 years). • The physician is responsible for diagnosing and treating a wide range of urgent health issues, performing common procedures, and making critical decisions regarding patient care and treatment plans. They must be adept at handling a diverse array of medical situations with efficiency and compassion, maintaining high standards of medical practice and patient safety. Additionally, the physician will collaborate with other healthcare professionals both in the local VA clinic as well as providers in the community to ensure comprehensive patient care and will stay updated with the latest medical procedures and practices relevant to urgent care medicine. Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification) Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting Responsibilities include providing medical care in the Urgent Care Clinic, to residents in Community Living Center units, covering as a hospitalist, and responding to medical emergencies. The Urgent Care Clinic is open from 7:00am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday, and Holiday and Weekends from 7:00am to 5:00pm. The primary work schedule is a compressed schedule, typically working 40 hours over a 4-day period. Hospitalist - Admit and manage inpatients with general adult medical illnesses. Includes performing histories and physical examinations, rounding on patients, writing progress notes, discharge planning and timely completion of discharge summaries. Work Schedule: Variable - May vary depending on deployment and/or assigned facility needs
