The Iowa City Veterans Affairs Health Care System (ICVAHCS) is seeking a Part-Time, Physician - Pulmonary Diseases to join the Specialty Care Service Line at the VAMC in Iowa City, Iowa.

The Iowa City VA HCS is seeking a board certified/board eligible Pulmonary/Critical Care physician with a primary interest in lung cancer to lead the lung cancer program as the Lung Cancer Program Director. The position is part-time in collaboration with the affiliate and requires both administrative leadership duties as well as inpatient and outpatient Pulmonary responsibilities. Duties of the position include, but are not limited to the following: Provide administrative leadership to organize and direct the development and maintenance of a high functioning, state of the art, multispecialty integrated Lung Cancer Program. Lead the Lung Cancer Oversight Committee and maintain regular tumor board review activities. Seek opportunities for participation of the Iowa City VA in clinical research studies in lung cancer. Provide consultative services and follow up for inpatient and outpatient pulmonary patients. Conduct bronchoscopies including robotic assisted bronchoscopy. General pulmonary practice including inpatient and ICU discharge planning to include collaboration with the hospitalists ICU intensivists and proper hand off at the end of shifts, as necessary. Inpatient progress notes and specific documentation for fellow/resident supervision is required. Quality of care should meet professional standards at all times. Performs the following functions: Evaluate, diagnose, consult, and order appropriate diagnostic studies and treatments for all Pulmonary patients and document interpretation of studies. Provide medical education to medical students, residents, and pulmonary fellows. Participate in Pulmonary and other Critical Care related committees and pulmonary conferences at the Iowa City VA and the affiliate. VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package.
