About Beacon Kalamazoo   
Beacon Kalamazoo provides 24/7 emergency care and a Level II Trauma Center. We deliver care for serious life-threatening injuries/illnesses, and your everyday health needs, including labor and delivery. We offer specialty care for heart/vascular disease, lung and sleep disorders, mental health conditions, and women’s health. We offer a wide range of outpatient services, including diagnostic imaging, lab tests, respiratory therapy and rehabilitation therapy services

What You’ll Do 

A Paramedic Transport provides advanced life support for critically ill/injured patients at the scene and during transport as part of the transport team. You will identify, intervene, and stabilize the ill or injured patient during interfacility as part of the transport team in collaboration with the transport physician and/or Registered Nurse. You will initiate and implement interventions based on transport team protocols, as well as monitor, record and communicate patient condition and treatment, as appropriate. This role contacts receiving medical personnel, reports observations and follows directives. You will inspect, maintain and care for equipment to ensure safety of the transport team, patients and public. You also may be required to drive an ambulance to transport patients and/or supplies.

Paramedic Transport Job Responsibilities:

Organizational Responsibilities

• Attend and participate in department meetings and is accountable for all information shared.
• Complete mandatory education, annual competencies and department specific education within established timeframes.
• Complete annual employee health requirements within established timeframes.
• Maintain license/certification, registration in good standing throughout fiscal year.
• Direct patient care providers are required to maintain current BCLS (CPR) and other certifications as required by position/department.
• Utilize appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self.
• Adhere to regulatory agency requirements, survey process and compliance.
• Comply with established organization and department policies.
• Available to work overtime in addition to working additional or other shifts and schedules when required.

What You Bring 

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Required Qualifications 

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Licenses and Certifications

• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Drivers License credentialed from the Michigan Bureau of Motor Vehicles obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• Emergency Medical Tech credentialed from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date or Paramedic credentialed from the Michigan Emergency Medical Services obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• Prehospital Trauma Life Support credential preferred.
