This position is located at the Blackfeet Service Unit within the Indian Health Service. The position will report to the Supervisory Diagnostic Radiology Technologist or designee. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021). Prior to the appointment, candidates must present two valid forms of identification. If one of the documents is a state-issued ID or driver's license, it must be REAL ID-compliant.
- Performs the full range of screening and diagnostic mammograms, including specialized and follow-up studies. Positions patients accurately to obtain high-quality images, selects technical factors, and adapts methods for patients with implants, surgical changes, or limited mobility. Performs daily, weekly, and monthly mammography QC tests (e.g., phantom images, dose checks, equipment calibration). Ensures compliance with FDA Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA), American College of Radiology (ACR), and IHS policy. Explains mammography procedures, addresses patient concerns, and ensures comfort, dignity, and privacy. Provides education on breast health, self-care practices, and follow-up requirements. Works closely with radiologists to ensure appropriate imaging studies are obtained. Adheres to radiation safety, infection control, and patient safety protocols.
