The Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist provides daily technical and administrative oversight for the clinic area, overseeing workflow, equipment, and supply needs. The role also includes maintaining the Radiology PACS system to ensure optimal performance and working collaboratively with the Assistant Chief Technologist and Chief Technologist.

Maintain, monitor, and perform daily quality control checks on the Imaging PACS System; report changes and system performance to the PACS Coordinator. Ensure optimal quality imaging for diagnostic purposes while minimizing patient radiation exposure; coordinate closely with radiologists and referring clinicians. Ensure CR and DR radiographic units remain properly calibrated; report any calibration issues. Maintain accurate technique charts for all x-ray rooms and support orderly clinic workflow to minimize patient wait times. Maintain radiation monitoring data and forward required statistics to Imaging Service leadership. Order, track, and maintain departmental supplies. Position patients, explain procedures, set technical imaging factors, and complete exposures according to exam requirements. Operate digital radiographic equipment including computer readers, lasers, and direct capture systems; ensure proper daily operational functionality. Comply with infection control protocols, safety standards, HIPAA, Privacy Act requirements, and cybersecurity policies. Apply radiation-protection standards and use appropriate shielding equipment to ensure safe imaging practices. Utilize equipment for quality control testing (Lucite phantom, bar phantom, lead grid, sensitometer, densitometer). Demonstrate knowledge of anatomy, physiology, radiologic physics, exposure techniques, and image quality assessment. Make independent judgments regarding patient care, equipment needs, and procedural adjustments when required. Provide basic first aid support, including assisting with emergencies (e.g., seizures, cardiac arrest); understand sterile technique and injection principles. Register patient information and assist in computerized systems as related to exam completion and statistical tracking. Demonstrate excellent customer service when interacting with patients, families, staff, and other clinical professionals. Provide age-appropriate and culturally sensitive patient care, adapting support based on developmental needs. Follow patient-safety protocols and report actual or potential safety events.
