The Mental Health Supervisory Social Worker is responsible for supervising a significant number of professional staff at the G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center, Mental Health Service Line. The Supervisory Social Worker will supervise a group of employees performing work at the GS-12 grade levels and below including Advanced Practice Social Workers and Social Work Program Coordinators. The Supervisory Social Worker will also provide direct clinical services.

  • Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Duties: Performs the administrative and personnel management function relative to staff supervised; Provides technical assistance to monitor activities and program reviews, and the development and analysis of information; Performs work related to the review, monitoring, analysis, planning and assessment of various programs including developing dashboards and the presentation of dashboards; Conducts staff development programs and takes responsibility for providing opportunities for staff to update social work skills or acquire new knowledge in contemporary treatment modalities; In collaboration with Human Resources, tracks licensure for social workers, including continuing education requirements, license renewal and other requirements social workers must meet to deliver appropriate care; Handles prioritizes and delegates complex patient care, personnel, budget, education and program planning activities; Evaluates the demands for services in the various program areas under the incumbent's responsibility and in planning for appropriate staff distribution to ensure a balanced and effectively operating social work section; Offers a full range of treatment services, particularly for Veterans with complex or challenging clinical presentations, with known suicidal ideations; Conducts screenings and assessments, crisis intervention and advocacy. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am -4:00pm, subject to change based on the needs of the facility.
