Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison, WI. They are responsible for comprehensive psychosocial assessments, treatment planning, crisis intervention, discharge planning, and coordination of care. The social worker addresses the complex needs of patients facing acute illness, hospitalization, and related challenges, ensuring that the psychosocial, emotional, and resource needs of Veterans are identified and addressed. They collaborate closely with optimize resources, and promote continuity of care following discharge. Appointment to the GS-11 grade level requires completion of a minimum of one year of post MSW experience equivalent to the GS-9 grade level in the field of mental health or other Social Work-related settings, (VA or non-VA experience) and licensure or certification in a state at the independent practice level. (September 10, 2019, VA Handbook 5005/120, PART II APPENDIX G39, II-G39-7). To practice independently in this position, the Social Worker has an independent clinical Social Work license from the state. If hired with less than one year of post graduate degree experience or without a license or certification, the Social Worker would be considered for promotion after obtaining certification or licensure at the independent practice level. A doctoral degree in Social Work may not be substituted for the the master's degree in social work. This can be substituted for the required one year of professional Social Work experience in a clinical setting. Individuals assigned as GS-11 Social Workers are at the full performance level. A GS-11 Social worker has a Master of Social Work Degree granted by a graduate program fully accredited by the council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Work Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm with rotating weekends and holidays. EDRP Authorized: Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply for incentive.
