The Syracuse VA Medical Center is seeking an Intermittent Staff Pulmonary/Critical Care Physician to provide high-quality care to Veterans. The physician will provide inpatient and outpatient pulmonary and critical care services, consultations, and procedures while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to support safe, timely, patient-centered care.

This is an intermittent position. Duties include, but are not limited to: Provides inpatient and outpatient Pulmonary and Critical Care services, including consultation, evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of patients. Provides inpatient Pulmonary consultation services and Critical Care attending services on a rotational basis within the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and step-down inpatient units. Performs bronchoscopy and other clinical procedures within the Pulmonary Section and within the physician's scope of practice. Provides sleep medicine consultation and participates in the evaluation and interpretation of sleep studies. Participates in inter-hospital transfers and coordination of care for patients as needed. Collaborates with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, Primary Care providers, and other members of the interdisciplinary health care team to ensure timely and appropriate patient care and referrals. Provides supervision, instruction, and clinical education to Pulmonary/Critical Care fellows, medical residents, and other trainees. Participates in educational activities associated with fellowship and Internal Medicine residency programs and may participate in research and scholarly activities related to professional interests. Participates in peer review, quarterly chart reviews, quality assurance, and ongoing process improvement activities to promote quality, efficiency, and timely access to care. Maintains required General Internal Medicine, Pulmonary, and Critical Care board certification, training, and professional competencies. Completes medical record documentation timely and in accordance with VA policies, regulations, Medical Staff Bylaws, and applicable standards of care. Participates in General Medical Staff and Medicine Service meetings and serves on committees as requested. Performs other duties as assigned by the Medical Center Director, Chief of Staff, Service Chief, or Pulmonary Section leadership. Work Schedule: (Intermittent/Part Time) Note: Work schedules are determined and approved by the supervisor. The incumbent may be required to work various shifts on a permanent or temporary basis based on facility/patient care needs).
