Located in the Diagnostic Imaging Department at the Sheridan VA Medical Center (SVAMC), located in Sheridan, WY. This position is supervised by the Medical Diagnostics Supervisor. The Supervisory Diagnostic Radiological Technologist provides first-line supervision to a team comprised of GS-10 Diagnostic Radiologic Technologists. The incumbent has full responsibility for the technical aspects and patient care functions within the General Radiography, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, and PACS system.

• Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES Incumbent serves as the Supervisory Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist and provides daily oversight of the department to include overseeing the work performed within the department and overseeing staff development and education to include competency training and validation. Provides technical oversight necessary to accomplish the work of the department which is carried out independently. The incumbent's ability to identify and implement methods for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of performing these services and the liaison role the incumbent plays affect the overall operational services to the patients, families, and community. Plans and coordinates work to be accomplished in: DRT, CT, US, PACS and MRI. assures that all work assignments of all employees are performed in a satisfactory manner; distributes, balances the workload among the employees in accordance with established workflow, coordinates and implements rotating call schedules. Sets and adjusts short-term and long-term priorities and prepares schedules for goals on completion of assigned tasks, assures that subordinates are trained and fully comply with the provisions of the safety regulations. Plans budget and equipment needs of the Diagnostic Imaging Department. Develops and implements policies and procedures covering the department in conjunction with Radiologist, Supervisory Medical Technologist, and ACOS Medicine. Updates manuals and functional statements as required. Assigns work based on priorities, consideration of difficulty and requirements of assignments, and capabilities of employees, creates work and call schedules, provides approval/denial of leave requests. CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain required licensure to include ARRT, BLS/CPR as well as skills in starting IV and contrast administration. Incumbent serves as a radiological technologist working independently. Incumbent schedules patients in the SVAMC scheduling package for examinations into the appropriate clinic. Evaluates the nature of critical and emergency procedures. Accepts verbal orders from clinicians and place protocol lab orders. Follows facility policy regarding patient identification. The incumbent uses computer programs with competence and establishes and monitors quality control programs. Maintains operations, log, and maintenance and service reports. Maintains files on patient, computer data, and technical parameters of each examination. Serves as the ADPAC for the Radiology package Technologist duties. Performs US exams of the abdomen and vascular system for the purpose of acquiring high quality examinations that assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patient medical disorders: examinations of the abdomen, neck, chest and extremities, retroperitoneal space. Both "B"-mode, Doppler, and real time scans will be obtained to evaluate size, contour, and tissue composition. Performs independent portable ultrasound examinations when necessary. Reviews new developments in the radiological field and recommends to supervisor those that would improve the operation of the section.
