  • The Chief, Primary Care is responsible for the leadership and oversight of all Primary Care Outpatient providers and their corresponding functions. He/she must establish a culture of quality and safety within these areas and ensure that quality, safety, timeliness, and appropriateness of care are continually monitored and evaluated. The Chief, Primary Care is the lead physician in Primary Care, which involves directing and coordinating medical care, supervising physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants, as well as primary responsibility for a panel of patients. The Chief, Primary Care is responsible for the creation of policies, procedures, and guidelines for clinical care, treatment, services, and processes in the outpatient clinics; ensuring direct reports receive required training and orientation; participation in the selection of new medical staff for Primary Care units; monitoring the performance of medical services in Primary Care; understanding the policies and programs of oversight organizations that affect Primary Care clinics.
