Learn more Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification) Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting Responsibilities: Columbus Geriatrics and Extended Care, "GEC" is a robust and well-integrated service with direct and indirect oversight of programs and care environments focused on the care of older Veterans and/or those with significant debility or terminal conditions. GEC provides access to specialty Geriatrics and team-based care through multiple programs and collaborations within and throughout the health care system. Principle GEC programs include Home Based Primary Care (HBPC), Geriatrics Clinics (GeriPACT), and Palliative Care. HBPC is the largest program with five clinical teams performing home visits to over 400 home-bound veterans. The Medical Director will: Understand, manage, and report data related to/from HBPC (local and national) Provide supervision of nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and trainees performing direct patient care. Serve as a member of the GEC Leaders Group (meeting monthly and ad hoc) Work closely with HBPC Program Coordinator, HBPC Nurse Manager, and HBPC Program Support Assistants on overall program management and response to changes and monitoring Serve as Chair of HBPC Steering Committee and HBPC Monthly meetings Lead and assist with HBPC program development including strategic planning, program leadership, quality improvement, quality assurance, continuous survey readiness, and committee/work groups in collaboration with others Understand, manage, and assist with review and revision of HBPC Policy to ensure compliance with VHA guidance Assist with response and management of Action Items related to HBPC Assist with response and management of emergencies as it relates to HBPC Supervise and evaluate all HBPC clinical providers in and serve as one local point of contact and subject matter expert as it relates to home and community based care services for Veterans Maintain licensures and certifications requisite for credentials and privileges at the Columbus VA at all times Meet ethical and professional standards as written in the Medical Staff Bylaws and ensure that work relations are in compliance with facility standards and expectations as written and communicated Other duties or cross-coverage as assigned by the GEC Chief including coverage of GEC clinics and GEC Chief if and when the Chief is unavailable. Work Schedule: Monday through Frida; 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
