This position is with the U. S. Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), in the Directorate of Technical Support and Management (DTSEM) within the Office of Occupational Medicine and Nursing (OOMN), located in Washington, DC or Sandy, UT. This position is at the full performance level. This position is inside the bargaining unit. This position is NOT remote. Selectee will be expected to report to the office listed above.
- Duties for the Physician include, but are not limited to, the following: Reviewing individual results and rendering qualification determinations (e.g. fitness for duty as a compliance officer). Applying epidemiologic principles, clinical and toxicologic information, and information and data management expertise to questions affecting worker safety and health. Providing assistance in the development, review and analysis of policies, guidelines, compliance procedures, and other documents requiring medical expertise. Representing the agency at hearings and other legal proceedings that may require medical expertise concerning occupationally related illnesses and injuries. Developing informal or formal written responses to field consult requests for support, and documenting opinions using medical and scientific knowledge. Preparing and delivering testimony in support of OSHA enforcement actions before Administrative Law Judges of the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Review Commission as needed.
