The Incumbent is a professional social worker and provides social work services to combat and non-combat post 9/11 Veterans, severely injured Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and/or Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF)/Operation New Dawn (OND) service members and Veterans treated at the VA Saginaw Healthcare System. The incumbent is responsible for the management, coordination, and provision of social work services to Veterans and their families.

• Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Duties may include but not limited to: The incumbent provides services which in include the provision of direct patient services, collaboration and consultation with the Interdisciplinary Treatment Teams, case management, supportive counseling, advocacy, crisis intervention, education, outreach, treatment planning, and coordination of linkages to other appropriate VA or community service providers and/or agencies as needed by the Veteran. The incumbent also serves as a liaison between Veterans, their families, and the Medical Center staff to ensure Veterans receive prompt appropriate medical care, have access to their full entitlement of benefits, and to resolve problems that arise as they transition to Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) care. The Post 9/11 Military 2 VA Social Work Case Manager provides social work case management, advocacy, outreach, and referral services to Post 9/11 Veterans and active-duty Service members. The SW CM is clinical practitioner who evaluates psychosocial needs and applies social work interventions, case management, clinical screenings, VA education, supportive counseling, advocacy, crisis intervention, education, advocacy, outreach, treatment planning, and coordination of linkages to other appropriate VA or community service providers and/or agencies as needed by the Veteran. The incumbent evaluates the Veteran's situation, abilities, and capabilities, and arrives at a reasoned conclusion including an assessment of a wide range of complicated mental, emotional, behavioral, physical, psychosocial, and environmental problems. The SW CM receives and completes consults requesting services from interdisciplinary team members and from other mental health professional on complex, difficult cases, using clinical practice skills and expertise in collaboration with supervision. The incumbent is experienced in making rapid assessments and developing crisis management plans for admission to mental health inpatient programs. The incumbent has access to multiple resource directories in addition to previously developed resources to meet the demands of a crisis. In the event of a medical or psychiatric emergency, staff will follow the protocols at the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade). Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience. Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child. Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
