  • The Mental Health (MH) Inpatient Psychiatric Unit Registered Nurse (RN) assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Duties of the position include, but are not limited to: Responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care. Administer medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines. Influence care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. Knowledge and active participation in the unit/program level quality improvement process and initiatives as well as customer service programs. Provide and lead the provision of competent, evidence-based care Provide patient-centered and recovery-oriented care, milieu management, and maintain self-awareness while caring for patients living with MH conditions. Facilitate shift reports, warm hand-offs, and nurse-led psychoeducational groups. Use therapeutic communication techniques, practice de-escalation techniques, and utilize recovery-oriented language. Participate in MH interdisciplinary treatment team, MH Environment of Care rounds, assume team lead for psychiatric emergencies, report and assist in resolving safety concerns, and document nursing assessments, nursing plan of care, and patient safety observations. Maintain professional boundaries to protect patient vulnerabilities and act in the best interest of the patient. Oversight of licensed vocational nurses/nursing assistants, as appropriate to the setting. Assist in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement and outcomes utilization consultation. Provide peers with informal constructive feedback for improvement. Foster a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of healthcare professionals. Contribute professional nursing perspective in discussions with the MH interdisciplinary team. Support colleagues through MH knowledge sharing to provide safe, quality nursing care. Share MH educational findings, experiences, and ideas with peers. Participate in activities and strategies to sustain evidence-based MH practice. Other duties as assigned. The schedule is dependent on facility needs and could rotate or shift to ensure coverage. Night Shift: RN's receive an extra 10% of basic hourly rate, providing 4 hours or more of your regularly scheduled shift fall within the night window (between the hours of 6:00pm and 6:00am) Weekends: RN's receive an extra 25% of basic hourly rate, between Midnight on Friday through Midnight Sunday. Holidays: Basic pay rate plus additional holiday pay equal to basic pay for each hour worked (double time) on a legal holiday/scheduled holiday or paid day off (depending on schedule).
