VBA delivers the benefits side of the VA to service members, veterans, and their families, which is separate work from the hospitals and clinics that the health administration runs. Its program offices split the job up, and Compensation Service is the one behind disability compensation, the tax-free monthly payment made to veterans whose disabilities were incurred or aggravated during active military service. Education, home loans, insurance, and vocational rehabilitation sit in the same administration.
